The structural renovation of an existing single storey CLASP structure, previous two storey traditional extension and provision of a new single storey extension intended to modernise and increase the available facilities at the site.
Located within an area of shallow rock head known to be underlain with historic mine workings, extensive grouting works and reinforced trench fill foundations were required to ensure the long term stability of the steel framed structure. Internal alterations to the existing buildings involved comprehensive modifications to suit the proposed layout including the retro-fitting of a lift within the two storey portion of the structure.
In addition to structural works, major internal and external drainage modifications were required to accommodate the additional building whilst maintaining original flow rates off-site. Modifications to the existing rear car park were also undertaken by DTA.
All works were carried out in a phased manner, allowing the centre to remain in use throughout.
